That’s tie & dye for you!
Tie-dye literally translates to the process of creating patterns on fabrics using the resist method.
What makes tie-dye so unique is any combination of colours or natural dyes can be mixed, matched, tied, folded, & wrapped together using rubber bands, strings, clamps, and knots to create interesting patterns.
The result?
Colourful combinations with fuzzy, quirky, flowery, spiral, and flowing designs and patterns. Tie-dye is an appealing art which requires at least 80% natural fibre such as hemp, cotton, and linen.
Fun Fact: The first origins of tie-dye can be found about 5000 years ago all thanks to the Khatri community of the Kutch region using the process of tie-dye on fabrics.
